Keto has been the easiest diet mentally.
Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here and I want to share my experience. It will give a bit of backstory as well. (24F if that information matters) I started losing weight in late 2020 doing a random diet. I was struggling all the time with different cravings. I did lose some weight, but the progress was a pain. 2021 I traveled to another country, my husband made me try all the good food and recover everything I lost. End of 2021 I went back on a diet. Society feeds you fat=bad thoughts, so I was on a low fat diet. I was losing weight so I can’t complain about that, but the progress was very difficult. Endless cravings. “Oh I miss this food”, “I can’t wait for cheat day”, “Honey, at least give me a bite” and so on. It was horrible. Earlier this year I broke down and just gave in and ate whatever I wanted until my weight started bothering me again and this time I decided to try keto. I’ve been doing it for a few weeks and honestly everything has been beyond great! I’m not very strict about how I measure everything, but I definitely do as my weight drops. And it all feels easy! I haven’t felt so well mentally on the diet before and this is very important to me as I am someone who already struggles with mental issues in everyday life anyway. I feel so happy that I can finally go on a diet and enjoy the progress. I don’t feel any crazy cravings (and let me tell you, I love all kinds of different foods), I don’t really feel hungry. It feels so easy and I finally think I can reach my dream weight (never happened before due to how mentally taxing other diets I just broke were). Of course, there are many favorite foods that I miss, but they are not in my thoughts 24/7, which makes me sad to be on a diet. Tonight I was literally next to my husband while he ate fries and I didn’t think for a moment that he wanted a piece and that had never happened before. I am so excited for my keto journey! EDIT: People are pointing to the part where I said my husband made me eat and I want to give more information on this. English is not my first language, so sometimes I don’t express myself in the best way. My husband only wanted the best for me <3 "It wasn't just a vacation, I lived almost half a year in a completely different country and culture, full of food that I can't taste in my home country, even if I really wanted to. My husband never made me eat, he just told me to worry less about my weight and take the opportunity to try everything while he could. And honestly, I couldn't be more grateful for him actually. I'm glad I freed myself for that time and listen to it. He just gave me that sense of security that I can look like I am and that I shouldn't miss out on anything in life. Now, when I go back to living a normal life, he is my biggest support in my weight loss process, supporting me in everything and, if sometimes I have a little feeling of cheating, he kindly reminds me of the cost. He's honestly amazing."
