Which protein power is better, the winner?

People ask me all the time about protein powders for protein shakes.

Here’s the deal. Whey protein can be made from cow which is generally not organic and therefore contains antibiotics and bovine growth hormones. It is not the best option at all.

Soy protein can be made from genetically modified soybeans. So that’s not the best option either.

In my personal and professional opinion, the winner is Garden of Life’s “Goatein” protein powder. Since it comes from the goat, it is easily digested, it is ideal for anyone who is lactose intolerant and it contains the 8 amino acids that our body needs and cannot produce on its own. It also tastes great. So it’s perfect!

I personally use Goatein every day, as does my husband. Here are two simple and delicious smoothie recipes that we have several times a week in the morning: In Magic Bullet (yes, it works well …..) or in any small blender, mix:

Add coconut water or plain bottled water. You can buy coconut water at any Whole Foods Market or maybe even a supermarket today. I usually buy the ZICO or VITA brands. Then just mix and wow ~ so good!

Sometimes I also add a pinch of cinnamon. It tastes great and is great for dramatically lowering blood sugar!
