The way I explain to my friends how ridiculous standard sugar consumption really is
** EDIT ** third “post” a charm. So Sweet N ‘Low and other sugar substitutes are 1 gram, like maltodextrin packets. Real sugar is 3.5 grams to 1, so about 10 packs per glass instead of 35 as there are more per pack.
[ORIGINAL POST]
Imagine that you and your friends or family go out to eat and everyone orders their drinks. Some will get a coke, others water, and here in the south someone will inevitably drink iced tea (usually sweetened). So, now imagine if someone ordered a sweet tea and the staff said, “Sorry.” I go out, but I can get you unsweetened tea and some packets of sugar. How many you need? What do you think is “normal”? 3? 5? Maybe you know someone who would break 10 of those packages as everyone stares in disbelief as it sits in the mud at the bottom of the glass unable to fully dissolve … But, here’s the thing … a glass of Coke 12 oz has 35! of those “little packages” that it contains. I can’t even imagine what everyone around you would look like while you’re trying to pour over 30 packets of sugar into a glass. You would be criticized on the internet as a meme if someone saw you do that. Everyone would probably point and stare at the person who is consuming 3 dozen grams of sugar, all while drinking a Dr. Pepper filling and not thinking about it … & # x200B; TLDR; sugar is sneaky and I think most people don’t realize how much they consume. KETO has been easy for me to explain and get “approved” since I put grams of sugar in “packet” measures & # x200B; EDIT: To clarify, each pack is labeled 1 gram.
