I am experiencing palpitations / palpitations and tingling in my feet / hands.
I started a very low carb / ketogenic diet in mid-January of this year at age 18, to gain a healthy weight and improve my energy levels. I did a checkup at my local pharmacy with my blood pressure measuring 83/51 mmHg; “ideal”, and my heart age shows “13” – 5 years younger than my actual age (18). I have been strictly following this diet since then (mid-January) and have cut out all caffeine and teas. Since I started, I have also strictly followed an OMAD / 23: 1 protocol, fasting for 23 hours each day and consuming my calories (2500) within 1 hour each night after a HIIT session. I am 19 years old now, and in the last week alone I have experienced mild flutter / palpitations in the heart and chest area. Could it have something to do with the amount of fat, mostly saturated, that I am consuming? I only eat meat and leafy vegetables *, and I only drink water. Nothing else. I am unable to get another medical check-up at my pharmacy due to Covid-19 restrictions. I am currently 19 years old and wondering if anyone could help me. I fear having to change my diet; a lifestyle that has significantly improved my mood and energy levels for so long. I should add that the last few weeks has been terrible weather, in stark contrast to the last hot and sunny months and I have been stuck at home and have been experiencing mild levels of stress due to not being able to work or going outside. This may have an effect on my problems. I do HIIT exercise every night before lunch, so there could be a relationship to the amount of exercise I’m doing; and I just turned 19 so there may be some homornal imbalances at play. These are just a few thoughts / theories: I started the diet almost 6 months ago, I strictly followed it every day, but have only experienced these things for the last week. If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.
