Finally Reached My Goal Weight!
I've always been obese (max. 254 lbs), pre-diabetic, and struggled with PCOS + high blood pressure. Doctors always advised me to be more active and although I've seen multiple dietitians (from middle school to college) I never stuck to anything….whenever I lost weight, I gained it back. I did not want to rely on pills, and was not compliant taking them. I started intermittent fasting June 2019 and lost ~20 pounds by September, bringing my weight to 235 lbs. I added light-resistance training with BodyBoss portable gym and then by November – I splurged on a Bowflex and incorporated HIIT/PPL workouts 6 days a week. December was when I officially started a strict keto diet (tracking macros with Carb Manager). All the lurking on this subreddit motivated me to change the way I was eating. With keto and IF, I experienced rapid weight loss. My Hemoglobin A1C dropped to 4.3 and my testosterone levels normalized. I've never felt better, lighter, and more energized. I enjoy low-carb meals and feel more satiated with what I eat (even during a calorie deficit). I also learned to be more conscious with reading nutrition labels and avoiding added sugars/fillers. Who knew you could lose weight with tasty protein mug cakes and other sugar-less treats? I love the keto lifestyle and wish I knew about it sooner. Keto definitely saved me, both mentally and physically – I'll never go back to the high-carb life.
