SV: weight loss with antidepressants
First of all, thanks to the people in this subreddit, it is very motivating and encouraging to see everyone on their respective healthy trips and I am grateful for the support. I've been eating Keto almost exclusively for 6 weeks now and so far I have lost 20 pounds! But more than that, I wanted to share what a relief it is to be able to lose weight.
I have been taking antidepressants constantly for a little over 2 years. When I started them, I gained a lot of weight FAST. I even stopped them for a short period of time, thinking I could go without them (spoilers: I can't). Before I started, I had still struggled with my weight, but not like in the last 2 years. I got to the point where I began to accept that I was always going to be obese and that being obese and not having panic attacks / being depressed was marginally better than having a lower weight, but dealing with the garbage that comes from my imbalances I have tried many Things to lose weight. And it was always 1 pound here, 2 pounds here, nothing felt good and it frustrated me more and more. (That if someone is like me, begins a horrible cycle of bingeing and more frustration and more weight gain)
Until I started Keto. It's like my body has an oil change … it works more smoothly, it doesn't need carbohydrates or sugary foods, and I'm not hungry every moment of every day. It may seem like a small weight loss to some, but this is absolutely a massive victory for me in my struggle to be healthy mentally and physically. So thank you and I hope this encourages anyone else who is also frustrated with antidepressants / weight loss.
