How should I handle Thanksgiving? (And how do they plan to do it?)
Thanksgiving will arrive soon.
In the past, I loved this particular vacation because I could overeat and nobody would judge me for it. Basically, I would take care of my depression and my emotional eating. But that kind of food is over for me.
However, there are some party favorites that I would still like to have: green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and cornbread are just some of those that come to mind. Not to mention that my sister is a baker and makes the most delicious cakes, pies and cookies during the holidays.
Now, I have been making a fairly strict keto since I started, and I can legitimately say that the only hoax I made was July 4th. I had a cheeseburger with a bun. He did not go overboard, but gave himself a little. It has been a smooth navigation and a strict keto since then.
I don't think I ended up starving at Thanksgiving food. We cooked MANY meats along with all the carbohydrate-laden foods, and I found a keto version of green bean casserole that I will prepare (it's simply not Thanksgiving without it). But I was planning to allow myself a little as I did on July 4. Eat mostly low carb, but maybe eat a bun or some cranberry sauce. Or maybe avoid all carbohydrates during the meal and eat some of my sister's desserts.
I'm not going to fall out of the car completely (because I know how sick I would feel if I ate macaroni and cheese, potatoes, stuffing, etc.) but would a slice of cornbread or a taste of dessert throw me too much? I trust my ability to return to the keto train and return to where I left it (especially with all the keto-friendly meats and vegetables that will be left over), but I just wanted to know what everyone thought and also see how others planned to navigate the most fattening time of the year .
